TOMORROW!!!!! ...is the final day to see 'CONSTANT VARIABLES', a two artist showcase featuring @jessicahessart and @hope___kroll at @mothbellygallery The exhibition feature's Jessica Hess's most recent body of fine art oil paintings depicting vaious attractive outdoor scenes of buffed/cencored graffiti, interiors of abondoned buildings, cool carnival rides and the naughty mannequins riding them! Hope Kroll's work is a combination of various assemblage mixed media pieces and highly meticulous three dimensional collage work. The works feature a mix of animals, wallpaper, letters and various images of machine parts compiled together to create an effect that reminds me of early Florantine bronze relief sculpture mixed with elements of futurism/industrialism. 'JESS HESS II' Micron 08 Pen on Bristol Paper 19x24in. $450 Unframed 2022 Below is an exerpt from last year's @mothbellygallery instagram takeover which featured a series of artists I covered including @jessicahessart. "There is a plethora of things I can say about @jessicahessart from the near decade of time I have known her and witnessed both the successful and tulmultuous journey of her work and lifestyle as an artist. I've had the opportunity to collaborate and travel with her, put up work in the streets together and continually use her as a model in my work throughout the years. In short, she has been a great friend, continual inspiration and wonderful colleague. Her attention to even the most minute of details, classical education, multi creative talents, juxtapozition of street art/grafitti with highly technically painted city/landscapes and ambition as an artist are nothing short of what you would expect of a RISD graduate and highly skilled/prolific oil painter. Her painstakingly painted and crafted  landscapes and urban (often decaying) structures are fascinating in themselves. She often creates 3D photographic physical models to use as reference for her work before even touching the canvas. The combination of these powerful images with her take on grafitti and street art only magnify the presence of these images. From her portrayal of literal tags/ throw ups to buffed walls and pixalated street images she always has a way of capturing the profundity of both the environment and the culture being presented. "My work explores the surreal, emergent qualities found in abandoned architecture. These forgotten places have become creative playgrounds for artists working alongside unchecked nature. Things once built to last, eventually fall. I embrace this cycle of construction and desertion, creation and neglect, growth and decay. I aim to preserve these unconventional museums and their transitory qualities through my paintings. ACRUVA was the signature image from my post apocalyptic series LIVE FOREVER which occupied my life and art career for a nearly decade. She made her way into nearly every gallery show and installation I composed from 2009 till 2018. I even did a clothing collaboration with the British clothing company @allsaints in which they did a seasonal run of several variations of her image in 2011. @jessicahessart, @greggandy and @youcantsayitstrue have all captured her image in their oil paintings!
