Closing my night by digging my way through this wonderful box set from Pure Pleasure Records of Art Pepper’s 1980 stay at London’s Ronnie Scott Club. The seven (7!!!) LP’s that make up this box contain Art’s complete shows during his engagement at the club. The band is Art, Milcho Leviev, Tony Dumas, and Carl Burnnett. To say these guys were smoking is to do that term an injustice. Art was in top form, and his playing truly inspired his band mates. Parts of these four sets were originally released on two LP’s, “Blues For The Fisherman” and “True Blues” on the Mole Jazz label (good luck trying to find a copy of either, especially in mint condition). So getting these sets reissued in their entirety is a blessing. Mastered by Ray Staff and pressed at Palas, you know these albums are going to sound the best they can. If you care anything for jazz, you better get on the stick and contact @purepleasurerecords as to availability. I hear this box is starting to get low. This box comes with my highest recommendation. #lp #boxset #jazz #music #liverecording #artpepper #stereo #album #albumcover #record #recordcollector #recordcollection #analog #audio #vinyl #vinylcollection #highend #purepleasurerecords #audiophile #audiophilepressings (at Vermont) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsHH26PAEQx/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=7biy4x0icb0i
