Meet Our Readers - Jessica DiMaio
What's going on with your hair right now?
It's blow dried straight now, but it's usually a mass of curls and tangles and lost hairpins.
Do you have a skincare regimen?
A gentle cleanser, a good moisturizer with SPF 30, and bathe in the blood of virgins once a month. I used to do it every week, but it's so hard to find virgins these days.
What about a makeup routine?
I'll do fun makeup when I go out, but on the daily I do the bare minimum with a bold lip to make it look like I tried.
Self-care is ________.
Literally my job. Recently I was learning a new facial in a class and traded with someone and thought, "Oh that's right, this is nice! This is why people come to see me!"
Best product you've used lately?
If you haven't checked out The Ordinary yet, do so as soon as possible. It's high end products for a low budget price. My holy grail is their Azaleic Acid, which cleared up my acne rosacea in a week and only cost $7.
Jessica is an esthetician, but despite having worked in various makeup stores, she hates doing makeup on other people. Her job is to take your war paint off, not put it on. She also writes, and had an essay about Sephora published in Bitch Magazine back when she worked there under the pseudonym Annie Oxidant.
