ARTISTS’ BOOKS AT MASSART

(WEDNESDAY 27TH MAY 2020)

I enjoyed browsing through pages and pages of artists’ zines during the tutorial. Some very very striking and captured my attention immediately. I guess I just wasn’t expecting the archives to have so many collections that didn’t resemble traditional books or zines.

I thought Jessica Spring’s work was very interesting structurally and the way that it is formatted. To my surprise, I saw a few zines that resembled furniture and physical things, which I thought was...unusual, but why not? ‘All of Me’ by Kate Parker immediately reminded me of Pixar’s ‘Monsters Inc’, and I was drawn to Sol LeWitt’s purely because it had a fifteen-word title. 

It’s nice that the art style is so broad and many artists take their own direction with these kind of projects :)
