Mystical Adventure, Watercolor on Paper, 2019 via Art
I am very grateful to YouTube and all the art YouTubers that make so many educational and inspiring videos. My top favorite art Youtuber is Ten Hundred, he makes the most kick ass art and videos. In his videos he teaches his audience how to paint in his style and how to paint murals with doodle grid. I also think it’s super awesome that Ten Hundred designed his own poker cards. I would purchase them if I have the extra money.
There are also other art YouTubers like Jess Karp who give you tips on how to improve your art. I watched this video long time ago, but I think one of the tips was to fill out sketchbooks. You can make mistakes in sketchbooks and learn from them. Maybe I am mixing Jess Karp to another Youtuber sorry. Jess Karp can paint really well, she paints oil, gouache, acrylics and watercolor. I especially like her painting on Ten Hundred’s Biggest Art Collab, it was really beautiful with a girl and her veil and hands reaching up to hold the other YouTubers’ art was magical.
Kiptoe is another art Youtuber that participated in Ten Hundred’s Art Collab. He painted a phenomenal dragon. One of Kiptoe’s videos has him reviewing other artists’ art and giving them feedback. That was really awesome of him to make that video. Kiptoe like Ten Hundred is also a awesome mural artist. His style is very rich in color, the only way I can describe his murals is buttery. Buttery in a good way, it’s smooth and thick with paint. Whether his painting on canvas or painting a mural, Kiptoe’s painting style is very buttery like butter spread on toast so yummy. I hope Kiptoe is not mad that I compared his art to butter. That’s really how I see his art. Sorry Kiptoe.
There are many more art YouTubers that I watched and I will continue to talk about them tomorrow night. Good night.
I feel like artists nowadays practiced art fundamentals and then explore their styles by simplifying the features and/ or details. For example, portraits, the facial features are simplified to the point where they are easy to identify and still can tell that they are facial features. Some artists like the caricature artists even exaggerate the facial features depending on what their clients look like. I think it’s a great thing to have simplified art, because it gives aspiring artists choices to take when they explore their styles. I like simplified art, because I like animated features and cartoons.
There was this female artist named Lilstarnerd and she paints simplified portraits. To me her portraits are simplified Renaissance portraits, because the way Lilstarnerd paint with guache looks like oil painting with texture. She doesn’t really blend her highlight and shadings she leave them with texture. Maybe I will try to copy her painting style to practice and explore my own painting style. Unfortunately, I don’t really like painting textures, because they make paintings look unclean.
The other artists that I like are James Jean, Jmizu, Greg Craola Simkins, Kiptoe, Jess Karp, Kat Liepins and Ten Hundred. These artists like Lilstarnerd all have their own simplified styles. James Jean’s art looks like characters from animated features, Jmizu too paints simplified plants. Simkins can paint to a point where his highlight are actually produced by the sun. Kiptoe, Jess, Kat and Ten Hundred all paint smooth paintings which I like a lot. The above artists are my art heroes even though I like Ten Hundred more than the rest of them.
Ten Hundred is my art hero, because he paint smoothly with lots of details. His characters are simplified with lots of simplified details. I want to copy Ten Hundred more than Lilstarnerd, but I won’t sell any of the copied paintings. I would get in trouble if I even post the copied paintings on social media. So I am going to practice Ten Hundred’s style until I can find a painting style similar to his.
I would encourage aspiring artists to find and copy their art heroes, but don’t sell the copied paintings or put them in portfolios. You never know whose going to tell on you and have law enforcement come after you. So practice to copy your art heroes and create your original art in your original style. It would be cool to see more and more simplified paintings and drawings. If aspiring artists still want to create Renaissance art go ahead, because there might have market for these traditional art. I don’t dislike Renaissance art, but they are so complicated that it’s hard to copy them. So it’s better that I practice and create original smooth paintings.
