John 15:5
“I am the sprouting vine and you’re My branches. As you live in union with Me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from Me you are powerless." (TPT)
John 15:5 was the Bible verse of the day yesterday on the YouVersion app. Here it is in the Passion Translation. It put me in remembrance of a Joyce Meyer sermon. The gist of it was that the electrical things we may have around the house: lamps, PCs, heaters, just won't work without power. Rechargeable battery operated smartphones, torches, iPads etc will soon run down if they aren't recharged. It is the same with Christians. We are constantly giving out spiritual energy as part of our lives and we will run down and go flat if we don't take the time to plug into the source of power in God via His Word, Prayer, fellowship with other Christians and quiet time with Him. Jesus often went away in solitude to spend time with the source of His power - His Father. We need to do the same, anytime our spiritual battery reserves become low - because without Jesus, we are powerless. Like a branch separated from the main vine, we will wither away if we don’t stay in Jesus. We need His power, all the time.
“So you must remain in life-union with Me, for I remain in life-union with you. For as a branch severed from the vine will not bear fruit, so your life will be fruitless unless you live your life intimately joined to Mine.”―Jesus, John 15:4
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your power, made available to us 24/7 through Your beloved Son, Jesus. When my spiritual reserves get low, please remind me to plug into Your energizing, refreshing power. Keep me in You, like a branch receiving life and nourishment from the Vine. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏
