I feel like we don't focus on G1 Jetfire/Skyfire enough. Like, here's this scientist who crash lands on a planet he and his friend were exploring and goes into stasis, only to wake up millions of years later and find out there's a goddamn war going on. But hey, his friend is here! That's pretty good, right?
Twenty minutes later, said friend -- his only connection to his previous life -- tries to shoot him dead for not executing prisoners.
So here's this far flung scientist-turned-soldier on a planet he barely knows with people that he's only just met. Hell, the fact that he's bigger than everyone and still has his cybertronian mode makes him stick out like a sore thumb.
idk, I feel like there's a lot of story potential with Skyfire, but more often than not, he's treated like an accessory to Starscream than as his own character. I feel that other characters like Hashtag have fallen into that trap as well but that's a discussion for another day.
Hell, it's not even just G1 Jetfire. I feel like nearly every version of Jetfire, be it canon or fan insertion, gets saddled with Starscream in some way. Animated Jetfire tends to be his son (With Skyfire being the other parent), or Aligned is his jilted ex who he might get back together with, or Armada being his enemy to lover. One time I blocked as many Starscream tags as I could just to see what would happen and amongst an ocean of 'this post contains the filtered tags' he was still snaking his way through.
Like, I've got nothing against Skystar, I swear, but the overabundance of Starscream is insane. Even with MegOp or JazzProwl, Megatron and Jazz aren't as eternally attached to their shipmates as Jetfire and Starscream seem to be.
