Jetfire is a plague upon this earth for any Starscream fan because people are actually straight up taking the continuities and shows where JETFIRE DOES NOT EVEN EXIST and shoving Skystar into them. And it's infantilizing both of the characters at the same time. Never in my life ever read a skystar fanfic or comic that didn't horribly woobify both Starscream and Jetfire. It's like the second that big fucking white shuttle shows up, everyone around him suddenly learns therapyspeak and starts talking out their problems like they've read self-help books. THIS IS TRANSFORMERS. SHOOT EACH OTHER IN THE FACE OVER MISCOMMUNICATIONS. Everybody wants Starscream to have a soft side so badly they invented an OC and gave him Jetfire's faceclaim just to write him "Fixing Starscream <3" KILL.

when i doubt myself for being a skystar shipper as i read posts here about how skyfire hates starscream now and skyfire deserves to be his own person outside of starscream and starscream is problematic and yadda yadda yadda, i remember the official transformers distributors in china and japan advertising about skyfire missing starscream (the new void rivals ad abt them wanting to be friends again in another life and tatakawanai stating that ttkwn!skystar were childhood friends). both departments are a fujo allies and i respect that.

Not exactly a skystar fan or a hater but a wisher. In the sense that I wish I saw more angsty works where pre-war they were friends or colleagues but one sided feelings on the part of Starscream.

Or Skyfire falling out of love with Starscream, mourning what they could’ve had, wondering if this was who Starscream was all along, all the five cycles of grief that the Starscream he knew is gone.

I don't like ThunderFire because it's generic boringslop (to me) and I don't like SkyStar because I think those two are better off as friends post-war. Unfortunately, most shipping content I see of Skyfire in the tags lately are those two pairings. Now that I think about it, I do not like Skyfire being paired with Seekers period. Has the fandom considered shipping him with a grounder? I guess Sky-Byte counts as a non-flying Cybertronian but I still haven't watched Cyberverse to see the appeal of Skyfire x Sky-Byte yet.

I love SkyStar a lot but I also have immense sympathy for Skyfire fans who don't ship it. Because Jazz is one of my favourite characters and I do not care about JazzProwl. So yeah. I get it.

I am honestly really tired of the popular fanon dynamic of Skystar as a ship,

Like, seriously, why is Skystar the designated Soft Good Starscream ship, the ship has more toxic, abusive potential then Megastar

Seriously, in the G1 episodes featuring those two, Starscream always ended up hurting Skyfire in some way,

Yes, Megatron may beat Starscream to scrap metals a lot but it's always in the context of after Starscream trying to kill him, you know, literal treason, honestly, Megatron let him get away with a lot

Don't get me wrong, I actually do enjoy Skystar a lot, I'm just kind of bothered with the popular fanon of the ship

I think there is an argument to be had that with the way Skyfire is treated in the ship. Most shippers don’t actually “ship” Skystar. People mostly self-insert onto him with how plain they write him, like typical self-insert protagonists. In that thinking, it kinda makes sense why despite it being popular, a lot of content is extremely out of character back to back. And when people do make their own self inserts where the dynamic with Starscream is they’re super nice to him and do whatever it takes to make him happy and healed. It makes sense why others skip the “create their own self-insert” process and just do it on Skyfire instead, since he basically gets the job done.
