五點幾肚餓好正常啫 #歐洲時間 #jetlagging
Hello World
Yes, we are just two more tech/IT guys who decided to get away from their comfort zone and jump into a year trip adventure on the other side of the world. Hence, this blog will simply serve us as a digital diary, where we will dump our thoughts (mostly the dummy ones), personal notes and the insights and progresses of our trip in cases someone out there might find them interesting or useful.
It is said that kids are like sponges. They are able to learn many languages simultaneously, to spend long hours watching movies or TV shows (as everyone in our generation did restlessly with those VHS tapes), to mimic their progenitors movements and actions, good or bad, or to get interested by the most genuine or peculiar stuff they may find and discover through their daily adventures (who hasn’t been playing drums for hours with a piece of plane wood and a pair of branches being 8?). But what amazes us the most from them is the passion they have while doing it. Where is coming all that (excess of?) energy from? Is it coming from the fact they don’t have to worry about anything but discovering the world that surrounds them? Or is it because, unfortunately for our parents, most of us were too high on sugar all the time when we were kids :D?
In any case, what we can all agree on is that it is a very enjoyable phase of our lives and that growing up also means losing much of that young essence. And that’s one of the main reasons we decided to plan this trip, to have time to get amazed again by small and genuine things. To come back to the point of learning new things, taste new flavors, include new people in our daily lives and rethink and confront all our current beliefs constantly. And this is a powerful driver for us, especially when realizing how short life and how many things are yet out there to be discovered.
We started our trip landing in Mumbai, India, which in one of our colleague’s opinion is “the place to go if one could only travel to one country in his lifetime”. So many different smells, landscapes, ethnicities, religions and people are waiting for us to discover, that we can’t think of a better kick off from this year abroad.
May the force be with you all!
Good morning! It's nearly 6 am here, and I am #jetlagging like a boss. Thought you might enjoy a pic of this #crumpet I'm eating.
I'd like to quickly update y'all on my hostel sitch...I'm sharing a room with 7 other boys. Most seem to be British. At least one snores with utter abandon, and two titter and chat in their sleep. The room smells...not fresh.
I'll be clear, they were very pleasant, once they stopped mocking me for all the bags I brought. I AM A GROWN WOMAN WITH HYGIENE AND WARDROBE NEEDS. I AM BEGINNING AN OFFICE JOB NEXT WEEK, NOT GOING OUT INTO THE ORCHARDS TO PICK ORANGES ALL SEASON. I THINK FOR A YEAR-LONG STAY, 2 SUITCASES AND A CARRYON WAS PRETTY LEGIT OF ME.
