It was just her luck. On one day of the year when she didn’t look her best and when she wasn’t in the mood for them, the pesky paparazzi were after her. And as much as Lara believed herself to be a powerful and strong goddess (who feared clowns), running on heels proved itself to be a tiring task. Yet, having successfully avoided the camera flashes so far, the blonde made a sudden turn. “Hi, hello, bonjour! Quick! You need to help me hide, they’re gonna be here any minute!”

“Gorgeous night... You can feel fall in the air.” Her voice was dreamy, invisible stars reflecting in her eyes as she gazed into the night, seeing right through the light pollution that diluted the sky and into a world beyond. Or perhaps it was just the weed. “Bittersweet though, isn’t it? The end of summer. I love autumn but it isn’t laced with the same promise, you know? June is so full of life and opportunity but August is... uneven.” She took a deep pull from the joint, her lips tugging into a lazy smile. “Want some?”  @jetsetstarters

Ophélie had stepped onto the bar’s rooftop to have a smoke, only to realize that her lighter wasn’t working. Still, she stayed, breathing in the cool nighttime air and lookout out at the city lights. When someone else came to stand nearby, she addressed them.”You don’t happen to have a light, do you?”

For the fourth time in twenty minutes, Antonia held back a sigh. She had ended up at the table at the event by chance, and had to wonder if whoever had coordinated the seating chart was just that oblivious or had personally set out to make her evening a living hell. “I wasn’t listening.” Antonia said plainly when someone tried to draw her into the conversation.

Regardless of class level, no true New Yorker can rid of their addiction to the hot dogs fresh out of the carts.  Growing up in the city all her life, Val has had her fair share of hot dogs; from the Lower East Side to Harlem, she’s sure she’s tried one from every possible vendor in the entirety of Manhattan. When her modeling career was at its peak, she tried to cut back from them as much as she could, but the best she could do was two a week—they’re just too damn good.

Clearly she wasn’t the only one who thought that; when she glanced over her shoulder, she saw that in the span of the five minutes she’d been standing at the cart on the corner of 68th and 3rd, a line had formed.  She took advantage of her spot at the front of the line and turned back to the vendor, “Let me get another hot dog with ketchup and a little bit of mustard.” Valentina said as she took the last remaining bite of her first one.  

She turned to the person standing behind her and licked the little blob of ketchup that spilled onto her forefinger before offering them a smile.  “I gotta say, this guy makes the best hot dogs in the city.”

The day had been spent surrounded by her family and Pieta had enjoyed it thoroughly. Her daughter had begged for a sleepover with her cousins and it was with a bit of a surprise that Pieta found herself childless for the night. She'd been laying low lately and had been spending most of her time with her daughter or around her family; an attempt at keeping out of trouble as her father liked to put it. He liked to ignore the fact she was actually a grown adult.

Still, Pieta intended to enjoy her evening, which was how she found herself at the decadent little bar that she couldn't remember the name of. She was still on her first drink,though close to finishing when she noticed a couple not far from her, arguing. The scene amused her, letting out a chuckle when she heard the woman's voice get louder and louder.

"What do you think they're fighting about?" Pieta mused to the person sitting beside her as she leant against the bar. "My money's on him flirting with a bartender," Pieta continued, eyes alive with amusement and mischievous as she looked at the other person before back at the arguing couple.

Taking her morning run, dogs in tow, was Elisabeth’s favorite part of the day. It got her blood flowing first thing in the morning, and gave her time to think in peace. Too wrapped up in her thoughts, she didn’t notice there was someone else nearby until one dog stopped and the other came to a stop, tugging on their leashes and nearly toppling Elise. Righting herself, she greeted the person politely. “Good morning. Lovely day, isn’t it?”

        After a big win, Nora often finds herself at the bar just around the corner from her swanky uptown office. It’s not the usual sort of place the upper echelons would retreat to --- a dive amongst the glitz and glamour of the usual Upper East Side haunts. But it’s familiar and the bartenders know her by name now --- perhaps she does a bit too much celebrating. Perched upon a bar stool, she motions to the bartender for another round, before nodding towards the person beside her. “And one of whatever they’re having too.” She’s in a good mood --- today was a victory. It’s time to spread the wealth.
