FOR: Orthodox/Rabbinic; Anyone can answer. I'm new to jewbook and I was added to an observant vegan recipe group. But I'm super uncomfortable because in their description they said for rabbinic Jews only, no messianics, Hebrew Israelites, or Karaties. I really feel gross about Karaites (A legitimate stream of judaism!) being conflated with a sect of christians masquarading as Jews but i am too anxious/uncomfortable to say anything (I don't know admins). Should I say something?

Mod here. I’m going to set the standard, as anon and many other Rabbinic Jews have, that Karaites are Jews--even if Rabbinic Jews (like me) often disagree with them (we disagree so much with each other too...). If you can’t work within the FOR that Karaites are Jewish long enough to give anon some advice on handling their situation, please refrain from responding to this post.

That big Jewish thrifting page on Facebook is apparently ran by the same woman who’s attempted to dox multiple Jewbookers over unbelievably minor things.

Most recently some disagreement over how long it should have taken a third party to renew his passport? Literally no one said anything weird or off-putting, just disagreed with her and she tried to ruin the woman’s life and career over it. They weren’t even interacting *with* her.

She’s genuinely very unstable and not a safe person. The admin in question is “named” (it’s a screen name, not her real name) Jennie Jay. Just a heads up for anyone who’s involved in Jewbook. Use the resource still if you want/need, just… idk avoid interacting with her?

It’s been verified that it was her on her personal instagram by the same name, and she made no attempt to hide it. She’s been banned from a few groups because of it.

This is just a PSA to keep yourself safe, not a call to action.
