See I don’t love a lot about myself but I love being black and I love being African even though both of those things carry a heavy weight in society. It’s okay to love yourself, is what I’m trying to say. And it’s that you’re not afraid to do it.

You’re so valid! It’s important to love the parts of yourself that society wants to use against you and wants to use to hurt you or make you feel like less!

It’s also valid to be mad and upset about the prison society constructs for us out of our own identities, of course! But there’s nothing wrong with loving yourself for being who you are, even and especially if that person is someone society wants to hate.
