Hey y'all, I need help tracking down a specific Stucky fic I read. I've been trying to find it with no luck and it’s driving me crazy. Here's what I remember:

Setting: WWII era

Dog Tag detail: Though he's Jewish, Bucky’s dog tags were stamped to denote he's Protestant Christian as a layer of protection. Using the canon tags but portraying them not as an error but an intentional shield.

First Punch Line: When the Commandos find out he's Jewish, they realize just how deeply personal this war is for him. They tell Bucky that if they ever track down Hitler, Bucky gets to take the first punch.

The Jeep Scene: I believe there was an intense hurt/comfort scene in a moving jeep. Steve is badly injured and his serum isn't working right/fast enough. Bucky is completely frantic, losing his mind trying to keep him alive. Howlies don't comment on the clear more than brotherly affection stucky give off in this or other scenes.

Hoping @gay-jewish-bucky or @buckybarnesisjewish can maybe help! Y'all are the two people I thought of instantly despite not being on tumblr in a while because I fell in love with Jewish Bucky because of you two. But anyone who has an idea is welcome to chime in! So worried it's one of the deleted fics in my ao3 history which would make me so sad if it's lost.

This may be a controversial opinion, but I don't know any fans more racist than the most die-hard sam stans. "Bucky is unhappy with white people," "Thunderbolts are an all-white group," "Ava doesn't count as a POC," "Thunderbolts are only liked because they're white," "People dislike Sam only because he's not a white, blue-eyed, blond guy"… They constantly emphasize someone's skin color as if it were the only thing that matters. If a character's most important characteristic is their skin color, then I'm truly sorry, but there's something wrong with you if you focus solely on that. And I often can't find an anti-Thunderbolts post that doesn't use the term "white people" at least once.

And these same fans have the audacity to accuse Bucky of racism for choosing an "all-white group" over loyalty to Sam. Regardless of the fact that Bucky doesn't owe him anything, do they even watch the MCU blindly? During WWII Bucky's group of best friends included: (previously skinny and chronically ill) son of Catholic Irish immigrants, a black man and a Japanese man. This was a time of eugenics, segregation and racism! And it was he who recommended candidates for HC to Steve. So where's his imagined racism???

This opinion shouldn't be controversial, and you are correct. They are hideously racist, not least because peddling this idea requires them to deliberately ascribe the wrong racial identity to Ava.

She's not white. She's canonically biracial and she's played by a biracial woman. "She doesn't count as a PoC"- BULLSHIT! Her mother was black in the MCU and Hannah John-Kamen's father is from Nigeria. He's black.

Go ahead and tell me what you *really* wanted to say is that she doesn't count as a PoC in your twisted mind because her skin isn't dark enough. Go ahead. I dare you. Yeah: that is the mindset of racists.

You know what though? Even if Ava was white, they're still racist because they are presenting a group of people as contemptible because of thier skin color. Which BTW is the very definition of racism. I am not even gonna get into the idea that Bucky "owes" Sam his obedience and affection because it is just every shade of messed up. Its literally the handler/asset relationship all over again.

And the thing they don't undestand is these attitudes play directly into the hands of real-life racists and the far right. They are literally giving them examples of racism to weaponize against Sam and Sam Stans.

The guy who created Arnie Roth, a Jewish character from the comics, said MCU Bucky was heavily based on him. Also his sister's name, Rebecca: that basically wasn't found outside Jewish communities in the 1920s when she was likely born.

Yeah so where was I? Yeah. Ava is a black woman. Bucky is Jewish. Steve Rogers was given the serum by a Jewish man and inherited Bucky's multiracial team including a black man Gabe Jones, and the son of Japanese migrants, Jim Morita.

So Sam Stans can shut their racist antisemetic mouths and fuck right off. Sam is probably going to be forced to accept Bucky's multiracial team in Doomsday anyway. If is is so we will be right here, laughing our asses off at their racist asses having meltdowns.

The Barnes’

Freida and Gheorghe Barnes immigrated to New York from Bucharest in 1916 due to the rising antisemitism in Romania.
