Between the pink, the ruffles, the trussed/banding and the general impression of taffeta on some of these dresses, I feel like there's a late 80's/early 90's design resurgence that I know I didn't ask for.

I liked “Shiny”, but I’m not sure I can convince MYSELF that it counts as a villain song.
Shiny is entertaining in that Lin Manuel Miranda lyric way, but it doesn’t have the pizzazz to compete with Disney’s top tier villain songs. No threat!! No real sinister undertones!

I think part of the problem is that a lot of Carol is Deep Lore. Marvel Space travel. Kree. Mysticism. Marvel has managed to sell the Space Stuff like Guardians of the Galaxy with some humor. Carol…has some of that, but it’s I’m pretty sure a lot of it is just going to come off as silly to audiences. And then it’s set in the 90’s. I’m jazzed, but I understand why some people aren’t as excited. ½ It is kind of disappointing though, as this is the first time Marvel has *finally* prioritized one of it’s leading ladies, and no on seems excited. I’m worried producers are going to take the wrong message (I will say it looks a lot more interesting to me than Wonder Woman, but WW really only had Etta Candy going for me, vs Ms. Marvel, which I actually like. This is going to be a really uncommon opinion with audiences, I know).
I think the unfamiliarity of the canon is part of it, and then for me it’s also just a general Marvel malaise. I am in theory excited to finally see a woman lead one of these movies, but it feels so much like a “finally” that I’ve lost whatever enthusiasm I might’ve had a couple years ago. Especially since Wonder Woman has now already come out and got to steal that thunder of being the very first.
But also we’ll see, like, I don’t know how applicable any of this will be to the movie’s opening weekend or reception. People liked Black Panther, and Ragnarok, and Infinity War, so they may still turn up for Captain Marvel too.
Also -- and this applies to both Captain Marvel and the Wonder Woman movie -- I’m a little miffed about the women getting the prequel stories. Even moreso with Wonder Woman 2 also being a prequel. God forbid we introduce the women in a way that’s going to drive the future of the franchise instead of pencilling them in after the fact. (I think that’s more a me-specific thing as everyone else usually seems hype about period stuff but ughghgh prequels, my natural enemy.)
jezza-riddell replied to your post: i hope bill actually lives in the tardis rather...
RTD apparently was kind of ambivalent to Rose living on the TARDIS, so I am not super hopeful Chibnall is gonna be all, “YEAH, TARDIS ROOMS FOR EVERYONE!”
well, but rtd’s (illogical) idea was that ten and rose spent the night wherever at X destination, rather than s6+ amy and all clara’s seasons where they supposedly juggled a home-life and a doctor life at the same time, yet the home lives never had any bearing on... anything...
clara’s part-time travel in s7 in particular struck me as a really interesting idea, then it turned out to not really be used for much, and by s9 it was just dumb.
Riley's contribution is apparently drugs, she doesn't get to help plan elaborate heists.
lol riley barely got to do anything in s1 and now she gets to do even less because she’s just will’s caretaker
sorry riley but i’m willing to watch sense6 if it will free me from you and will being boring
LOL, so for the entirety of The Walking Dead's existence (it lost me on episode three), my flow chart has been: Is Glenn Still Alive: A) Yes: Okay the show can continue or B) No: You no longer have any right to exist. On the plus side, they haven't fucked up Michonne, but I'm still not sure my flow chart is inaccurate.
Sis, I'm hoping Michonne never becomes close friends with him because soon his man pain will need feeding. No character is safe from the Plot Bandit!

I think Misty is slated to appear in Iron Fist….but given Netflix’s track record at this point, I have zero hope for Misty and Danny getting any time to be cute together.
From what I had read, people assumed Misty would be in Iron Fist based on a) logic and b) an IMDB posting, but IMDB is notoriously unreliable and it’s since come out she’s in Defenders but not Iron Fist.
Might be wrong ofc or hypothetically she could be in the inevitable s2 of Iron Fist but I’m not holding my breath for either.
"i'm only one episode in and if anything happened to chloe i would kill everyone in this room and rewind time" I mean, accurate. I made so many bad decisions because: Chloe.
