Awesome Theme Songs for Underrated Wrestlers
I was a big wrestling fan when I was a kid. I came into it during the “Attitude Era” in the WWE and stuck with it until around 2009 or so. Everyone knows who guys like Stone Cold, The Rock and John Cena are and would instantly know their entrance music.
But what about the guys that didn’t get nearly as much air time? There were quite a few of them that had some really awesome theme songs but due to them not being used, you hardly got to hear it. I want to showcase a few of my personal favorites. We are not judging the quality of the Titantron video or their gimmick. I’d love to hear what you all think as well.
Up first we have one of the songs used for Gregory Helms. This song is so freaking good. This also fit what Helms was trying to do at this point in his career as it was far more intense and serious which let him move away from his Hurricane gimmick.
I think this is a textbook example of a super talented wrestler being given a wicked theme, then being completely underutilized. What's really sad is that when he teamed up with Funaki they just used the Kaientai theme. Nothing against Funaki or that song as I like them both but they had nothing on this theme.
While the Blue Meanie was never going to be a top guy, the fact that he was almost never on TV meant we were robbed of hearing this theme song. Its so darn energetic and fun that I had to post the video of it being danced to.
So remember when I said we weren’t judging based on the gimmick? Here’s why. Dean Malenko really got the short end of the stick when he worked for the WWE. I love how this song begins. It just grabs your attention and gets you pumped for what comes next.
Most of the theme songs for Jamie Noble were pretty good. I think this one is probably the best of the lot. The dude was a solid worker and knew how to get things done on the ring. Just a shame he didn’t get nearly as much time to shine as he should have.
So these are just as few of my picks. I’m sure there are plenty more to choose from since I didn’t list any WCW or ECW themes. I’m not as familiar with those unfortunately. Please let me know what you think as well as some of your own choices for this list.
