’the bandersnatch'
@jiminxkr
taemin is so fucking done with this game already. he’s tired, frustrated, hungry, and all this bending over is giving him a back ache. if he never sees another egg again, never tries to open it up and look inside, it’ll be too soon. he wants to wake up and the seeming impossibility of that is really starting to weigh on his mind, it’s starting to give him pause. it’s not like he could normally wake up from a nightmare whenever he wants to, not like he is the type to be able to snap his fingers and be back in his own bed again, but something about this dream feels…. off. too real, too lucid. he hates it too much and he has a lot of self-awareness for a normal dream.
still though, what else could it be? he’s already seen hecate, even though it was just a projection of her in his subconscious, but it’s unlike her to cast a spell on him like this, isn’t it? could it be morpheus? nox? he grits his teeth—how dare any of them try this bullshit on him, how could anyone, anyone, dare to trap him like this, in a goddamn labyrinth? the sky above him thunders and roars his displeasure, but there’s no rain yet.
he turns a corner and bends over to pick up another egg, about the same time as another hand comes into view, going for the same egg. taemin’s eyes widen as he peers up into the face of dionysus, their gazes equal and matching, both pausing for an instant, but then the familiar anger pools in his stomach and he snatches the egg before the other can get to it. he’s hoping it’s something important, just so he can lord it over the other, but it’s empty, so he scoffs and drops it. “i suppose you got the same message i did?” he side-eyes him, his body mostly turned away from the reincarnated god of wine, as though he doesn’t trust him even though he’s the one who shouldn’t be trusted.
