So how much different is k'thir Abbie compared to illithid Abbie?
Well, honestly, they’re still the same overdramatic, well-dressed and confident pirate captain as usual, the only real change is this Abbie started out as human.
K’thir Abbie was born as Morgan Gulley, and they are a drowned sailor, who in their dying moments was offered their life in exchange for servitude to N’zoth, one of the old gods.
They spent years as a servant of N’zoth, their mind quite not their own, where their body was slowly twisted in to that of a K’thir. It wasn’t until recently they gained their mind back and fled.
Now no longer human, and still hearing the whispers of their old master, Morgan, now going under the name Abster’sine, sought out a mage friend, who gave them the means of a magical disguise and a necklace to subdue N’zoth’s whispers.
They’re currently working their way up to getting a ship and a crew again and get their reputation back to where it was before their untimely death.
K’thir Abbie struggles with their identity; having a hard time accepting K’thir means they aren’t human at all, understanding they’re considered a creature of the void and that loss of that necklace means they’ll probably be back in n’zoth’s service.
Alongside that, hiding in plain sight, seeing as many would probably kill a k’thir on sight if their disguise ever slips up.
