He pauses on his side of the bed, stares at the top of Shouto’s head peeking out from under the blankets he’s hogging. A part of Katsuki- the only part of him that isn’t screaming for rest, that isn’t desperate for the soft, heavenly give of a pillow under his head, his cheek, that isn’t already anticipating the relief of finally closing his burning eyes- is strangely reluctant to climb into bed, to disturb Shouto and disrupt the soothing quiet of this image with the clamour of his thoughts.
Katsuki comes home.

(we're going to be without power for a good bit of time (so thankful we have a generator) and all the roads leading out of our place are blocked by downed trees and/or power lines, but overall we were super lucky!)

Jinsin got very upset with his meal. He wasn't used to eating from a ledge and kept missing. By the time he actually struck it, you could tell his frustration was boiling over 🤣
(also, I contacted Yuzu's breeder in regards to him not eating. They were very responsive and quick to offer advice. As if to prove me wrong, he actually ate a frog scented hopper last night!)
It has been a DAY
Mesa once again got out last night, but I found him under my bed this morning. I also fed him today in hopes that encourages him to stay put until we get the necessary bits to secure the top of his enclosure (tomorrow).
Jinsin's been exploring regularly (completely surprised by the fact that his entire space wasn't just a tiny square). He also started pulling a Mesa, and was nosing around the top of his own enclosure. We will be proactively fixing his up tomorrow as well.
We also got Wisp out. She's had some spots on her I was almost positive are just dirt, but wanted to be sure. She was so hissy and adorable, but let us wipe her down with damp towels. Just dirt. She was such a good girl that she got a meal right after.
Last but not least - JUNA, female arctic superconda from Hip Hogs arrived today. She's only two months old and so little, yet is exploring her enclosure like a champ. Her breeder was wonderful, and I have no regrets

(love the silver coloration on her body, but why are her eyes so goofy looking??? There's a reason we call her our sweet alien baby. Also, she didn't eat tonight, because I thought she was hiding and in shed. In retrospect, I think I missed her hanging out on the background. Whoops)

Looking over at Todoroki now, it’s odd to think that this is something that Katsuki has gotten used to, that he looks forward to. It’s odd to see the parts of his life that have become malleable to Todoroki’s presence. The blue light from the TV washes over him, painting him in strangely moving light and shadow, and makes him seem uncharacteristically soft, vulnerable, makes Katsuki want to reach over and touch just for the sake of it, makes Katsuki wonder if he looks the same way right now. “You know,” Katsuki begins, wary, but desperate to let out some of his thoughts, “this is a lot easier than I thought it would be.”
Bktd become roommates when Kirishima leaves on an international mission. Katsuki is surprised to find that letting someone in doesn't always have to hurt, that love can be easy if it gets a chance to be.
