All That Glitters || Witch!Winter and Familiar!Qrow

Winter hadn’t stopped running since she’d made her escape from her family’s home. She couldn’t handle it. Twenty five years of living under her father’s tyrannical rule had finally pushed her to the point where she was running away with only a backpack on. It wasn’t gigantic, but it was big enough to hold everything she needed. She settled in the woods once she was confident she was far enough away to be safe from her Father and whoever he sent after her.

She set about getting a fire ready for herself, getting out food to prepare for her supper that night.

it started with one crow. its wing broken when caught in a fish net and Clover had healed it. the next day was two crovids, both begging for a fish and Clover had fed them. by the week’s end, Clover had a full murder of crows and even his seagulls were jealous. 

“ go on now, ” he whispers to one resting contently in his strong arms. “ your master wants to scold me for stealing you all away. ” 

the crow takes off and Clover turns to the shadow of a god, smiling brightly. 

“Qrow! what a surprise! come for another cup of my tea? a fella can get use to such attention~”

“It’s just you today, Qrow?” Leo began, sitting at the table in his office. The tea set Ozpin had recently given him was already steaming with a bitter northern Mistrali brew he had been meaning to try. Meetings of “The Brotherhood” as a few of them had been taking to to calling it had been sparse lately so it was up to lots of individual communication to fill the gaps. It was no surprise that focusing on keeping the relics at the academies left basically all of them busy with running those academies, Qrow was a special case with not having any direct role in the four major academies. Leo wasn’t surprised he was the common go-between. “Come, sit down. Would you like some tea?”
