The city was empty, not even one person standing on the streets like usual and Chunji sensed something was wrong… The anxiety grew inside of him, causing him to instinctively run down the long dark roads where not even a car was in motion. ‘Fuck, what the fuck?’ He thought to himself, seeming like he was running too long but not a mile ahead. Suddenly he sensed movement nearby in a grocery store, which was the only building in sight with lights. Inside he could see a familiar figure, a female who was mindlessly shopping from the potato chip aisle. “Jisook…” He called her name quietly, taking a step inside of the store without a thought to anything, he was swayed by desire. The atmosphere suddenly felt calm and all the anxiety he had felt from outside was almost gone, and he knew it was because of her.
She was smiling in a radiant bloom even though there was completely nothing out there. He wanted to reach to her, the nostalgia of warmth and other pathetic feelings he had lost… He found it in her. He always have. ‘You kill everyone you love,’ a voice ruptured in his head following by the image of his father’s face dripped in blood and a voice of a woman screaming with a crying baby. He forced his eyes closed, taking a step back from the store. It was better off if he didn’t get close. It was better for him to take the path of emptiness than her to be part of his shadows.
His eyes opened feeling his body in a position he wasn’t in before… The sight horrified him.
A knife pierced through the female he occupied the same space with and his arm attached to the murderous weapon.
You kill everyone… You love.
Grasping for breath, Chunji awakens from his couch, sitting up to locate that he was in his base. ‘A nightmare…’ His hand swept through his blonde locks, reminding him that it was the arm that held the knife. Looking at it, his hand shook drastically and he wasn’t able to control it which led to force himself not to witness the pathetic view, staring at the ceiling now after laying back down. “I’m.. Not gonna kill her…” He spoke to himself, making a somewhat promise to himself but in his voice, it had a small doubt. He didn’t want to involve himself into her life but at the same time he doesn’t know if he could keep himself away. In frustration, Chunji slid off the couch and prepared another long night full of alcohol and quietness, competent that he couldn’t sleep and even if he could… He didn’t want to…
He didn’t want to return to that.
