Joel is an almighty god! Well more a local god to a village hidden away in a lovely forest but that’s besides the point. He has watched over this village since it’s founding and each and every person in the village either worships him out of fear or borderline cult behavior but they aren’t hurting anyone or anything so Joel leaves them alone for the most part…Until three people show up on his radar that don’t even care about him. All three born and raised in the village but odd for a number of reasons. First there’s Cleo a Gorgon hybrid who’s known to kick anyone’s ass if they make her angry, then there’s Etho who’s always trying to make strange machines that nine times out of ten blow up and then Lizzie who’s always wandering around the woods without a care in the world.

Now it’s not the three aren’t aware of the village’s local deity they just don’t care to worship him their the outcasts hell they aren’t even allowed near his shrine most days. So when he suddenly showed up in front of the three of them questioning why they aren’t worshipping him they did the only thing they could. They ignored him and continued to go to their usual hangout spot. Leaving the poor god flabbergasted until he snapped back into it and followed them demanding he be shown respect and worshiped…with little to no success.

This went on for weeks before Joel just lined them up and asked them. “Why the hell aren’t you three worshiping me while the rest of the village does?!” From there Cleo took over and said “Meh not our style.” And granted Joel is a patient god he is really but they aren’t worshipping him because of it’s just not their aesthetic?! Why he demanded they worship him right then and there!…Turns out he should have been a lot more careful with his wording because by the time he woke up he was butt naked in a cuddle pile with the other three also completely naked after just giving him the best lay of his life…Welp this surely won’t cause any issues with the village.

The thing is, they've never cared for gods. Cleo has been considered a monster since she was a baby. People in the village considered her a bad omen, demon child. She's pretty sure there was at least one attempt on her life before she could even remember it.

Lizzie has just never cared. Nature has far more power, in her opinion. That's what provides the food they eat, the clothes they make, the houses they build. Not some god. She'd rather spend her time around that!

Whilst Etho... Redstone isn't particularly popular in their village. Why should they improve upon what their god designed? But Etho never understood why they shouldn't. If he can make life easier or discover new things, why shouldn't he?

Joel, having lived the life of a god, hardly sees all of that. He just sees three people who aren't worshipping him.

Or. Weren't worshipping him. They certainly worshipped him that night. And now he wants more of it, much to the Gorgon hybrid's amusement. Let's see if they can work out a deal...

Cleo, Joel, Lizzie and Etho are all still learning the ins and outs of their new relationship but they all love each other. Sure Lizzie fuels Etho’s love of chaos and Joel is still getting used to the occasional temporary petrification from Cleo. But their making it work! But both Etho and Cleo can tell Lizzie is hiding something about herself and Joel ain’t talking not that they can blame him considering how they’ve seen Lizzie freeze like a dear in headlights at the sound of a sudden sneeze. But there’s something…odd happening with her the occasional bloodstain here and extra bandages and patches on her there it’s concerning. But it’s not their place to say anything so they’ll wait til their new partners are ok to talk about it.

And boy did they not expect what would happen not three days later. So the four were out just wandering the forests along with some of the other hermits and emperors until they all had to split up because of a pillager raid where the four had gotten backed into a corner and Joel got a crossbow bolt to the arm. And from there Etho and Cleo just saw Lizzie froze slowing seeing her pupils turn blood red before turning to the pillagers and charging at them laughing like a maniac tearing them apart limb from limb. Frankly both hermits have seen people with violent streaks before mainly False and Wels going apeshit on mobs after a frustrating day. But this…this was different they just looked at Joel who was sighing giving them a look of they’ll both explain later.

When Lizzie stopped her little rampage she froze and looked at herself before crying hard. Cleo hadn’t seen her cry that hard since she burned down the fairy fort back in last life. Her rambling about how Etho and Cleo will hate her now that she’s a monster and so many other things that broke her three partners hearts. So Joel picked her up off the ground and led the way back to their shared little home where he slowly explained while tucking her into bed that Lizzie came from…a bad place somewhere she only told him about once that made her have a literal kill switch the second she saw something hurt something she cared about. She’d snap and destroy it frankly both Etho and Cleo found it hard to believe that someone such as sweet and pure as Lizzie could cause such destruction. But Joel kept explaining that she hates when this happens and it leaves her feeling awful for the next few days worried the slightest thing will set her off.

Man’s when Lizzie woke up she explained the rest to both Etho and Cleo in private. They’d never seen her cry so much she gripped the sheets so hard they were both positive she was gonna rip them. But when she looked at them with teary closed eyes saying. “If you both wanna leave I understand I’m a monster after all…” And before she could say another word both of them hugged her and whispered her sweet nothings as they gave her kisses and held her until she started crying again. They all had their dark secrets but they would never stop loving Lizzie or Joel because of them.

They don't want Lizzie to feel that way about something that's, ultimately, to protect her and the people she cares about. If she thinks it makes her a monster then sure, she's in good company! When Cleo first died she was far less civilised than she is now. And Etho has been through a few ultra hardcore situations himself.

They can't promise her they'll never give it a reason to happen again, because, well... Then they wouldn't really be living. But they won't take advantage of it, that's for sure.

They can figure everything out lately. But, now they're going to look after Lizzie and make sure she recovers from that properly.
