Jjambbong (Korean Spicy Seafood Noodles) in jeju.
-짬뽕 in 세화해수욕장 근처 중국집(다래향)
#2526: Samyang Foods Jjamppong Big Bowl - South Korea
Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, spring onion, Busan fish cake, shrimp and carved squid. The noodles came out perfect - thick and chewy. The broth has a very good spicy seafood flavor. The included garnish hydrated well - all in all quite good. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8801073210943.

Ko-rantine bday : )
It’s another birthday at home but I’m not complaining! I have food, I have snacks, I have WIFI haha
Let me show you what I ate on MY day~
1st off, breakfast was RAMYEON!
I used a pack of no-flavour plain ramyeon by the Ottogi brand (bright yellow bag); cooked & drained the noodles.
This was a recipe I saw on Instagram & I decided to try it. It’s a “mix” ramyeon dish & the sauce consists of green onion, soy sauce, chili powder, & sesame oil. I only added like 2 drops of sesame oil. And dried seaweed pieces!
You mix & eat!
I prefer the ramyeon soups than these dry/mix bowls, personally; however, this was good too. I ended up adding more seaweed later, after I took this photo. Worth a try, though :P
Lunch: seafood jjambbong. YES! You got it - this is the O!Noodle brand that I got from Hmart. The frozen jjambbong kit cmes with 2 frozen noodle packs, with 2 pouches of jjambbong sauce. Then I added my own toppings: napa cabbage, shrimp, baby clams, & some fish cakes/balls.
Shopping spree at Hmart with my brother’s credit card lol
You guys, check out the almond section/snack section! THEY HAVE OPTIONS!!! But they’re also $13.99 O_O omg...
Guess where!
Yup, at Nongbu.
If it weren’t for C*vid, I’d be bringing my squad here to eat again. They’re open for dine-in now, but only several days a week. Please go check them out - order from them & do pick-up if possible... like me! They’re on delivery apps too, but you know how those are.. . Do your orders from the restaurant directly if it’s available :D
& no, not sponsored. They’re just really nice ppl & their food is really good. My fav Korean restaurant in the city =]
& if Korean food doesn’t please you, they have a ‘cafe’ as well. Visit their official Instagram at: ear_yeg .

Unpackaged~ I got their signature cheesecake. I’ve eaten it before & it’s cheesy but very light. Does that make any sense? Usually cheesecake is very dense, esp the ones from stores but this one is like.. . peeeeerfect.
I also got an order of their weekly mini cube cake box. Every week, there is a ‘box of the week’, where 4 diff flavours of mini cakes are available. This week, there’s hwang cheese crumble, earl grey caramel, orange honey, & pig bar vanilla chocolate. The other item is a coffee drip bag! I’ve excited to try it!
Ahhh the cheesecake was so good!!
My dinner~
I got the Nongbu kimbap (vegetarian), pork belly bulgogi, & the butter bulgogi rice!
The kimbap is a nice way to start your meal, IMHO. It’s light & refreshing! It contains baby asparagus, carrot, Korean pickled radish (the bright yellow kind), & marinated shiitake mushroom. It has a nice blend of pickled flavour with savoury/sweet mushrooms. Too plain? It comes with a dipping sauce that has mustard & mayo.
I’ve never ordered the pork belly bulgogi before but I just felt like pork belly haha I haven’t had pork belly in a really long time! The dish was slightly spicy; mostly sweet. Generous amounts of slightly charred pork belly (who else loves that bit of smokiness like me?!) & green cabbage.
Lastly, the butter bulgogi rice. One of my all time favourite items from the menu! I used to eat/finish it while dining in during my regular Whyte Ave rounds before going to evening shift lol those were the days. .. Anyway, super smooth & sweet, the dish contains thinly sliced semi-fatty beef, seasoned shiitake mushrooms & some green onions, & topped with a sunny side up egg & seaweed. It’s honestly so good!!
So yeah, that concludes my day / meals haha it was great!
PS: anyone watching Penthouse???
Jjambbong ♥ by O!Noodle
One of the questions that ppl ask each other in Korea is whether you’re team Jjambbong or team Jjajang - both of these noodle dishes are Chinese-Korean food & almost all restaurants selling one would also sell the other. It’s just a ‘pairing’; however, some ppl prefer jjambbong while others prefer jjajang.
I’m definitely jjambbong bcos I like spicy food haha
Anyway, jjambbong is certainly a flavour I miss to a great extent. .. There’s a street stall / small dine-in area in Seoul’s Insadong district that I LOVE bcos of its inexpensive & delicious jjambbong. It is so amazing, & I hope they stay in business till I revisit Seoul next time!
So yeah. .. this is a jjambbong kit I got from Hmart. It’s the same brand as the black bean noodles I had earlier this month.
It is a kit for 2, so there are 2 noodles, sauces, & ‘dry pack’, which I’m sure what is in there yet at this point, but I assumed it to be like the instant noodle dehydrated veggies/’seafood’.
I started cooking the noodles first bcos I actually had the kit in my freezer, so the noodles were hard. Then I tossed in some bean sprouts + onion.
Cooked it a little longer then added my sauce in.
Yes, I was right. The dry pack contained the usual ramyeon dehydrated ingredients.
YUMMMMM! The fragrance was good; could tell it would be spicy from the smell alone so I was very excited to try it. It also had a seafood-y smell bcos jjambbong normally contains seafood. For this one, though, I decided to keep it simple & left it was vegetarian.
The noodles were great! I tend to undercook noodles a little bit bcos I like the al dente texture, but still, the noodles were soft & slightly bouncy.
Satisfied my cravings for sure .. . as I continue to watch Korea travel vlogs & cooking show. .. I miss Korea so much!!

Some time after I made the first of 2 packs, here was the end-product of the 2nd/remaining half of the kit:
VERY minimal veggies haha the napa cabbage was at the bottom of the bowl :P
See the cabbage??
I think the mussels + baby scallops added more seafood-y-ness to the jjamppong, & it tasted better/more enhanced here.
But nonetheless, this was GREAT! LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEED IT =]
