jack-jack had just finished school for the day, and was sitting in the coffee shop working on his homework. he was starring off when he saw his older brother. “hey, dash. come over here.” he said with a smile.

Yesterday, my community lost 3 more incredible high school boys to a tragic accident. Also yesterday, I graduated. On what should've been such a happy day, my heart felt empty. I felt hopeless. Because not only did I just lose two friends, my best friend lost her boyfriend. The boy I love lost 3 more of his best friends. There has been so much loss surrounding me and my community within the last year. And the worst part is, yesterday, everyone handled the loss much better than they did 8 months ago when we lost John. We handled it much better because we're used to it. As a high school, we should not be able to say that we're used to our friends dying. But it keeps happening and the pain is so much right now. I'm aching for my beautiful best friend, who is the strongest person I know. She overcomes anything and everything that life throws at her. Her boyfriend died yesterday, and she still showed up to graduation. She was a wreck, obviously, but still. If it were me, I'm not sure I could even go. I'm aching for him, who cried in my arms last night as he came to terms with the fact that his best friends are gone. I wish I could take their pain away. I wish it didn't have to hurt. This is supposed to be a time of celebration. A time to celebrate us and the fact that we've made it past high school. And now, everything just seems so dull. Everyone is mourning and everyone is crying and I can't understand why such an amazing and loving and tight-knit community has to mourn yet another loss. It's not fair. Rest in peace John, Jacob, Cary, and Patrick. You were all so loved & will continue to leave a mark on Clarksburg. We will miss you forever & never forget about all the amazing memories you've left us with.
