You know I havent read anything surrounding when Nightwing was Batman-
But imagine an AU where its "no one knows about batfam" and Dick is doing his best to juggle his family splintering, his dad gone, and Batmans responsibilities both as a JLA founding member and stuff in Gotham.
I want someone (probably Hal) to get in a screaming match about a mission go wrong and yell at DIck "You are no Batman"
He means it as "You aren't the man who earned his role here" But for Dick, hes right- he isnt Batman, he doesnt want to be, but he doesnt have a choice- hes all alone and he just really wants his dad.
I want Dick to fucking shatter and against every bit of training and acting skill he has, he just starts fucking sobbing. Cue Justice leauge freak out- Batman is compromised?
NOPE- Batman apparently DIED months ago and his young adult son had taken all the responsibility of the cowl and new head of the family with NO support because no one else was allowed to know who he was
Batmans rule to keep their identity secret in order to PROTECT his family instead almost broke it.
