Give me Bruce who in a furious tone yells out "JASON" but it isn't Jason who responds, its Tim- Because even after so many years, he still hasn't gotten used to B calling him by his real name.

The thing is that even in the interpretation of "Bruce let the kids be Robin because they would've gone out on their own otherwise" you can't actually deny Bruce's selfishness, at least when it comes to Jason. Even with the idea that Jason wouldn't have gone home with Bruce if he hadn't been offered Robin (which I don't subscribe to,) Bruce still only took him in because he missed Dick.
"Oh but you just said that he would've been running around alone anyway-" Bruce made Dick step down from being Robin because Dick got shot during a fight with Joker and almost fell to his death. Bruce specifically ended Robin because he couldn't risk Dick dying. And yet when Jason comes around- they meet twice before he offers Jason the position of Robin. And when Dick asks about it?
Bruce outright admits that Jason was there because he'd missed Dick. Because he felt lonely. In universe, Bruce knew that the idea of a child sidekick was both dangerous and senseless, and yet he still took a child home, put him in his eldest's clothes and took him out into the night to get himself killed. Which Bruce knew could happen.
It doesn't matter if Jason would've gotten himself killed on the streets anyway. Bruce's decision to make him Robin wasn't based on that. It was based on selfishness and the love he has for Dick Grayson and Dick Grayson alone.
If Dick had come crawling back on his knees and begged to be Robin again Bruce would have all but shut him off. But Jason (and the other, subsequent children) have always been less valuable than Dick. So he can take them out to die, because it means he keeps Dick alive.
Bruce Wayne can love his kids, want the best for them, try to protect them, and care for them while also being a horribly abusive parent. Those are not mutually exclusive
'because he took me away from you'
He is begging you. Your SON is begging you. BFUCE YIU PIECE OD. SHIT
And the fact that Bruce's thick ass fucking skull didn't understand Jason 😒 like idk, maybe the victims feeling should be heard and I don't know, maybe think about what they say?? Like Bruce literally puts himself before Jason who is the victim, who has the right (maybe not cbb thinking rn) to ask for such a thing (esp when you go back to consequences (after diplomat son) which has Bruce telling Jason that a father anger and etc is to be expected when his son died, and what is Jason to Bruce? He should be his fucking son. But no. Because Bruce put Jason as Robin first than as a son. That fuckward).
Anyways I agree 🫶 Bruce is a piece of shit.
"Jason is Bruce's favourite, he lets him get away with murder!"
No? The only time you could ever argue that Jason 'got away' with murder was during the three jokers, and even then, it was because he was tortured when Bruce found him.
Jason has been to Arkham (not bruce), Blackgate (Bruce came back and was fine leaving him there), was beaten half to death, got dragged back to the warehouse he died in and was beaten there, got his throat slit and was left in a building which exploded afterwards, was beaten into a coma because Bruce didn't bother investigating, was banned from Alfred's funeral, got a special treatment that sent him into a panic attack when he produced adrenaline to the point where he has to self medicate with joker venom, and after his autonomy was removed he was guilt tripped into dying AGAIN. Then, he was excluded from the family at the end of the run
If this is how he treats his favourite, then I don't know what he would've done if he didn't like Jason
The Star Wars fanfic equivalent of ooc Bruce and [insert Robin of choice here] interactions in dc fanfic is saying that Qui-Gon reported Xanatos as dead to the council rather than telling them he had Fallen.
Literally contradicts Xanatos and Qui-Gon's backstory in Jedi Apprentice
Gets perpetuated by people who have never read either JA OR the comic that contradicted JA by having Qui-Gon say something that doesn't make sense even in the comic context itself let alone the material it's drawing on because they read it in fics and assume it's true
intentionally makes Bruce Qui-gon a worse person than he is in canon for the sole purpose of making a woobie's life worse
usually used to justify making someone else [your favorite Robin's] Obi-wan's parent Master, as though it's not enough to say "hey Bruce Qui-gon was super traumatized and not ready for another kid, maybe give him a chance to recover instead of trying to make him take in another kid in order to fix him"
Sometimes the alternative parent Master is Bruce's Qui-gon's estranged oldest, Dick Feemor, who also has complicated feelings about a worse version of his dad Master who is, of course, personally solely responsible for Dick's Feemor's personal insecurities and trauma and has a cadre of overprotective friends who hate his adoptive dad former Master for the way he's ruined Dick's Feemor's self-esteem and will never forgive or trust him no matter Dick's Feemor's feelings on the matter
Sometimes the alternative is Bruce's Qui-gon's messy second child padawan, who has done some truly heinous things in canon but that only matters if we don't make all of their choices the result of Bruce's Qui-gon's bad parenting, therefore if we make Bruce Qui-gon a worse person we can make Jason Xanatos look like a much better alternative who should actually be trusted with the child he physically beat and wrote on the walls in his blood to taunt Bruce put in a slave collar and threatened to murder to taunt Qui-Gon the first time they met in canon because obviously he wouldn't have done that if it weren't somehow actually Bruce's Qui-gon's fault
Sometimes the alternative is Bruce's Qui-gon's father figure Master who logically should actually be the point of origin for some of Bruce's Qui-gon's worst parenting behaviors at best and actively personally responsible for genuine harm to some of Bruce's children Qui-Gon's padawans at worst, but somehow becomes the better choice because obviously Bruce Qui-gon didn't learn those behaviors from anyone, he just decided to be a worse person on his own
nobody cares what kind of people they are in canon, canon is too much of a mess to put in that kind of effort so authors just make them ocs by another name instead
the fan interpretation becomes so prevalent that it's nearly impossible to find fics without one or members of the family lineage being unrecognizably ooc

Please help me figure out which WIP to add a chapter to.
Whichever WIP y'all choose, I'll write a chapter for, post to Ao3, and post a teaser + Ao3 link here. This time, each fic is summarized with a tag
