Fav whump word? Stumble.

Whumpee is fine. They are! People say 8 hours is minimum sleep. But that's an average thing, right? Surely there must be people sleeping ten hours… Allowing them to sleep two. That's how averages work, right?

Besides, how are they supposed to sleep? Their friends keep saying the things they're experiencing are normal, so they might as well live them to the fullest, right? Even the overwhelming anxiety, crippling insomnia and the terrifying nightmares. 

Fourth night, however, starts bringing about some not-so-fine happenings. They feel weird. They feel so cold… Their face feels hot, though, when they touch it. Is it only their impression? 

They don't feel hungry, but it's been a while. They're not sure how long. They drag themselves out of their room, to the kitchen. They drop the paper towels trying to get a cup of water. They open the fridge, looking for something ready, to no luck. They take out the eggs, thinking this is the easiest possible thing they can make. 

As they get the pan, thought, their ears clog up, like they're up on a plane. They drop the pan, bringing their hands up to their head. The lights are up now and it's too much.

Caretaker is standing at the door and they're speaking to Whumpee, but Whumpee can't hear them. They want to explain and apologize apologize apologize they really are so so sorry for waking them up. 

But speaking seems to be too much trouble. The Whumpee takes a step towards them, hoping that if they're closer, it will be easier to speak. 

They stumble. If it was on the kitchen table, their own feet or on plain air, they're not sure. They see themselves fall in horrifying slow motion. Things dissapear momentarily, only to appear again, better. 

They're in Caretaker's arms and it's cozy. They're saying "god, you're burning up" and they say "why are you still up? Did you even sleep?", sounding like they're on the other end of a tunnel. But the Whumpee doesn't understand. Their heavy eyes blink once and once again. 

There is a flash of fear that sends their heart racing. They can't sleep, they'll dream, they'll wake up in tears again and be so alone and so cold. 

But Caretaker is here now. And they're picking them up and carrying them to their room. They're laying the Whumpee in bed. They're laying next to him. Their chest vibrates with the soft hum of a lullaby. 

Whumpee struggles, but is defeated. 

They quickly fall back to sleep.
