today*s coffee with...
the clarinet and bassoon pieces... i really don*t pay enuf attention to those instruments- a world of cool soundz... also very cool. did you know that the drummer who wrote “get it” wrote it for his friend the bassoonist? and the guy who wrote the “canon” had that clarinetist in mind? same goes for the piece for bassoon and electronics the composer wrote it for That player... isn*t that grand? Joan tower said that she learned to be a composer by writing solo pieces for the players in the new music ensemble she worked in as a piano-player. by working with each musician she learned the ins and outs of each instrument and it made her a better part-writer for orchestra works... makes sense to me
