Gabriel Orozco: Asterisms at the Guggenheim - "Sandstars" (by guggenheim)

Gabriel Orozco: Asterisms at the Guggenheim, November 9, 2012—January 13, 2013. Guggenheim curator Joan Young and artist Gabriel Orozco discuss "Sandstars," a sculptural carpet of nearly 1,200 objects that were encountered and gathered from Isla Arena, Mexico, a wildlife reserve, which is simultaneously a whale mating ground, whale cemetery, and industrial wasteland.  The Deutsche Bank Series at the Guggenheim Gabriel Orozco: Asterisms, is a two-part sculptural and photographic installation comprising thousands of items of detritus the artist has gathered at two sites—a playing field near his home in New York and a protected coastal biosphere in Baja California Sur, Mexico, that is also the repository for flows of industrial and commercial waste from across the Pacific Ocean.

Twitter Assignment

I have chosen to follow Joan Young on Twitter because she is in the field I am pursuing of elementary education. Her Twitter address is @flourishingkids which stood out to me becuase it made me think she really has a passion for her job. Turns out, she does. She is an elementary school teacher in Santa Cruz, CA.

Just to preface her Twitter activity, she follows 2,261, is followed by 3,857, and has tweeted 17,121 times. Wow.

Now, of the 2,261 accounts she follows, most are fellow educators from all around the US and many even outside of the country. She also follows many authors and publishing houses. She follows accounts having to do with technology in the classroom, and mainly just education in general.

She is followed by educators and authors, again from all over the US and the world. Educational accounts also follow Young.

She also has her personal blog website posted. http://www.allkidscanflourish.blogspot.com/

Obviously Young uses Twitter quite often and is well connected in her field judging by the number of accounts she follows, is followed by, and her number of tweets. She has a passion for the classroom and education. She is dedicated to staying informed and sharing information concerning her field. I would also venture a guess to say that she is very interested in reading/writing due to the number of authors and publishing houses she follows.
