It wasn't as if she'd ever planned on keeping her engagement to Fandral a secret--far from it. She may have called a few people--her mother, for one, Jane for another--and told them, but there hadn't been anything official. Well, until now. 

Darcy was anxious to see how those closest to her would react. But she was happy, and she couldn't wait to tell them why.

To say that the Archangel was loving this was an understatement; very rarely did he allow company in his laboratory, but having Joan with him really brightened up his day. "Here! Watch this." Wilfred grinned, gesturing to the chemicals at hand on one of the tables of the well-lit, invention-filled laboratory.
