i think he’d eventually make the first move one day when he sees you drawing, come up beside you and gently either compliment it or ask what you’re working on. i don’t think he’d openly flirt with you right away, but if you were to say something flirtatious to him he’d get a bright boyish grin and would have to look away, the next day a couple wildflowers he thought were pretty would be on your windowsill
fast forwarding to your actual relationship, he would love you with his whole heart. his favorite part of each day is coming home to you and listening to you talk to your hearts content, whether if he understood what it was about or not

now it may seem my answer is a little biased as i’m familiar with your marriage affections for him, but it was actually really close between him and eric!
✨picture this✨ lion is out for a morning run with ash. he’s exhausted as stan is working him like a dog again, fight after fight, constant training, long shifts at the sewing factory, but the grind never stops and honestly these runs are what keep him calm
his shoe comes untied, only when he bends down to fix it his hands are trembling too much and he can barely make a fist, let alone tie the laces again
he fumbles with them for a minute or two, jaw clenched as he curses under his breath in frustration. he’s about to give up and just tuck them back into his shoe, but that’s when you, my little empath, come in and offer to help
he says no at first, but then he sees you’re not looking down at him with pity and you’re just a genuinely kind person, so he relents.
the whole time he’s blushing and can’t make eye contact with you, mumbling “you didn’t have to do all that… thank you though” when you’re finished
the two of you get to talking, probably about ash at first because she’s adorable. he’s very shy and awkward but he doesn’t come off as dismissive at all, he likes talking to you. he even tries to make a joke, and the second your laughter reaches his ears he has to look down at the ground to keep from grinning like a kid on christmas
eventually his phone buzzes with pestering texts from stan, pulling him out of the moment and reminding him of his tight schedule, but before he goes he works up the courage to ask for your number and the poor baby sounds so unsure of himself the whole time
“hey, listen uh… would it be okay if i asked for your number, maybe? only if you want to, of course. i don’t wanna- shit, i don’t even know your name yet..” and when you give it to him he repeats it so gently like a prayer
skipping ahead, this boy genuinely loves you so much it’s insane. you quickly become the thing that motivates him to get up in the morning and make a better life for himself
i think you two would balance each other out very well, you help him out on the days he’s struggling whether it’s physically or mentally, and he wants to do the same for you while looking at you as if you hung the stars in the sky the whole time
you mentioned being defensive, so i can only imagine the encounters you would have with stan with the way he treats lion lol. lion would always end up telling you, “don’t pay attention to him darlin’” or “baby, you don’t gotta do all that. s’not worth it” but the whole time he’s smirking and can’t wait to get you home so he can show you how grateful he really is
he would absolutely love going on hikes with you and would make it his personal mission to find new scenic places for you to explore, most of his camera roll ends up being of you with the view in the background. he doesn’t like being in pictures that much, but if you ask he can never say no to you, so your lockscreen ends up being a blurry pic of you kissing his cheek with his face scrunched up in delight and a pretty forest background
he’s not a cat hater, that would make him too hypocritical of his nickname, but he is worried about your cat getting along with ash, but i’m sure it would work out! you’ve definitely come home a few times to lion napping on the couch while your cat is curled up against his shoulder
overall he loves you so very much and finds himself asking what he did to deserve someone as lovely as you everyday
