Dakota is pressing the plump half of a lemon over a sizzling hot fish dish as he hears the question directed at him. His eyes look to the speaker. Ah, of course. It would be a child of Aphrodite that would be asking such things. love beings were that way, always curious about it, always having it radiate off them in waves like ripples on water. Dakota likes such beings. How could he not? His best friend was the Lust god Eros, and he was enraptured by the god’s son currently.“I have,” the deep sound of his voice replies as he moves to pour a glass of honey ale for the customer that the dish will go to. “I been in love a few times in my life- but they were good times.” He stops the tap.“Even if they ended poorly. But being in love can be like that, you feel me?”

Hongbin did not know how he had got there. A lady had asked him for a favour, and of course he had not been able to say no, and now he was-- what, on a date with her daughter? He really didn’t know, the situation was sort of unclear. He did not really even consider it s date, since they did not even know each other. It was more of a... introduction dessert time? Sure, why not? It was not like either of them seemed overly interested in the date thing.

“Sorry?” What was that? Spanish, maybe, but he could not know for sure. He offered her a bright smile, hoping to alleviate some of the tension. He really hated feeling awkward. “Your mom seems like a formidable woman-- I don’t think I’d normally find myself in this situation,” he commented, chuckling. 

“Right? Cake makes everything better, even a strange not-really-date-thing.” He picked up the menu, scanning it while chewing on the inside of his cheek. He was glad that at least most of the awkwardness seemed to have passed. “I’m Lee Hongbin, by the way. And you are?”

“Oh, there was a m-- incident?” Maybe it wasn’t good to just tell people about a local murder so blatantly, he realized. “It’s a police matter, but there’s nothing to worry about, promise.” He glanced over his shoulder, glad to see that the police cruiser was blocking the view of the corpse. It was not a gruesome sight to him, but it may have been to her and other civilians. He snapped a latex glove on and grabbed his kit, offering her a gentle smile. “No need to be alarmed, go on about your day~”
