Panic attacks were something he’d gotten accustomed to, along with insomnia and phases of depression. Were his situation different, Leo would’ve gone to a therapist long ago. He knew it would be best to get help, but he also knew that he couldn’t, not like this. The root of his mental illnesses was the crime family and what happened the day he fled; talking to a therapist would mean revealing that Leo was not real. And he couldn’t do that. Not when they could find him.
But thinking about these things would not help him calm down, so Leo scooted a little closer to Hongbin and focused on the warmth of his shoulder and arm. The tune Hongbin hummed almost made Leo smile, and he let out a slow breath, glad for the coolness of the night. “Are you sure?” he asked softly. “You can go back inside.” Please don’t go.
It took a few moments before he answered Hongbin’s question. “I want to leave,” he carefully confirmed, “but you can stay. I can get back alone.” Another moment of silence. “I don’t want to ruin your night even more. You should be relaxing, not…” He gestured at himself.
Hongbin actually scoffed at the idea of going back into the gala, rolling his eyes. Typical, that Leo would be worried about being a downer or something right now. “I’m not going anywhere,” he stated firmly, flashing a smile. As if he was going to leave one of his best friends at a time like this. Nope, not happening. After all, he was known to have a calming and uplifting influence on people. That was kind of his whole thing, actually.
“Don’t be silly! It’s not like this is really my scene, anyway. C’mon, let’s go~” He replied, standing and offering Leo his hand to help him up. He honestly could not care less about leaving the gala; in fact, it was almost a relief. He was kind of tired, it would be sort of nice to retire early. “Unless you’d rather be alone, I mean--”
