Check Presentation to U of U Health Sciences

Wednesday's check presentation from Club 24's Health Committee co-chaired by Joe Hatch and Taylor Scalley to the University of Utah College of Health Sciences. The $3,000 check was the second of two checks committed thus far towards Diabetes research being conducted by Dr. Danny Chou's team.

Dr Chou reported to Club 24 at a 2016 luncheon. The recipient of yesterday's presentation is Maria Disotuar, a graduate research assistant in the Biochemistry Department.

Thirteen Rotarians and guests took the opportunity to enjoy dinner with Senator Orrin Hatch, his Northern Utah Director, Nathan Jackson, and Nathan's spouse Lindsey on Thursday July 28. We met in the Library Room of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building within the Roof Restaurant. The event was the culmination of one of our fundraising options at last year's International/Medical Committee auction. Senator Hatch seemed appreciative of the event and the chance to visit with "good Utah people". He fielded several questions including the state of our nation, the presidential election, terrorism, education, medicine, his chairmanship of the Senate Finance Committee, and the fact that he is #4 in the line of presidential authority in addition to being an Honorary Member of our Club 24. We would love to thank Senator Hatch for taking his time to visit with us and hope that he will come back soon. Of note, the Senator did not taste a single Roof Restaurant dessert and there were 5 members of the Washington DC police force sitting outside of our room enjoying their own dinner. We felt very safe!
