Let's talk about Moonface. Moonface is a modern Audiodrama, set in Downey, a California town Southeast of LA. Our main character, Paul (played by actor and comedian, Joel Kim Booster), a is gay, Korean-American guy. He feels stuck. He's working as a waiter, still living at home with his mom. His mom has limited English, while Paul has limited Korean. And Paul isn't out to her. He fears what she'll think of him. She'd like him to take Korean classes and he pretends he is, but he's not. It's almost like he fears having the words he would need to tell her clearly. But he meets someone, and he starts taking a class he's interested in, so sooner or later life might force his hand. 6, 20 minute episodes, Moonface is a relatively fast listen, and feels like the podcast equivalent of the kind of coming out/child of immigrant parents story you'd see at an indie film festival--and I mean that in the best way possible. So, if you like indie film vibes, coming out tales, or vignettes into the struggles of second generation Americans, then Moonface is for you!
