In Our Hour of Need || Tuah & Joey

There was a war going on.
Well, there was always a war going on these days, and Tuah was so used to seeing countless bodies that he should have become desensitized to the violence that he’d seen thus far. Perhaps he was, seeing the violence didn’t phase him anymore, not like it used to. He helped where he could, offering kindness to those that needed it regardless of where their loyalty laid. But so long as men in power decided war was the answer, there was only so much that he could do.
Tuah drove past a few blocks with his Norton WD16H and stopped by at a bar, one of the few places that were still opened. He needed a place to stay for the night before heading out to where Eleanor was currently staying, not to mention feed himself. Well, feeding wouldn’t be that difficult when they were delirious men who wouldn’t remember his visit. He only needed enough to sustain himself for a few days, after all.
When he opened the door, he could see the eyes of its patron fell onto him, looking idly at his garment to determine he wasn’t the enemy, and resumed their day drinking. Tuah headed straight towards the bar and saddled up next to one of the patrons. The first thing that he could tell was the man wasn’t human, nor was he a witch. Tuah doubted that he was a werewolf either, since he didn’t carry the same smell as the species that he encountered. Secondly, he was a soldier, the way he carried himself in the quiet bar was quite telling. Or perhaps it was the soldier in him that recognized another, even if they were of a different lifetime. The thought made him smile bitterly, a small crook of his lips and nothing more.
Tuah drummed his finger on the counter until he was entertained by the bartender and ordered his drink. He raised his glass to the man before taking a sip, letting out a sigh when he felt the familiar burn down his throat. “That’s the spirit,” he commented, mostly to himself, before knocking back the rest of his drink and signalled the bartender to fill up his drink once more.
