i think something fascinating about weird route is that it is not unique in its degendering & masculinization of kris. even in normal route, kris is still the leader of the party. kris is the one making decisions for who does what at the festival. kris is the one flirting, but never flirted with. deltarune has so many strong female characters, but still, they very often leave choices up to kris. who is not really any more clever or strong than anyone else they've buddied up with! they're just the de-facto leader. for mysterious reasons. (even though they're actually pretty frail by themselves.) and weird route exacerbates this, obviously, but it's also interesting how normal route begins to take it apart. susie & ralsei, starting in chapter 3, but especially in chapters 4 & 5, are becoming much more comfortable taking control away from kris, putting faith in each other as equals, instead of continuing to play follow-the-leader. i think this is really good. i think this is really great. i hope kris and their friends will continue to unlearn transmisogyny
