"i'm scared all the time." what's the point in hiding it? of course she's scared. with the things she's seen and done, there's no way not to be. "i shouldn't tell you this, 'cause it's probably your future, but we were in london and ... oh, it was this big thing, and the sontarans were there. those big ... potato ones. 'cause they are, they look like potatoes. and i had to take one out, on my own, with a mallet. i was terrified!"

she still is, if she thinks about it - her mum and her grandad were in danger, and if she hadn't done something they were going to die.

and she'd been on her own.

stuck on earth, exiled by his own people a second time. frustrating. a blessing, he thinks, when he gets to see his best assistant again. " you don't. " he is very quick to run over and give her a deep hug. " josephine grant, i have missed you. " all his worries, all his hardships & bitterness seem to fade away. he is reminded of his times with her, the trip to peladon, the fights against the master... he doesn't know what he would've done without her at his side.

. The table was piled high with crates, each one filled with seven cylindrical columns of tightly packed soil. More often than not, the work of an archaeologist was not particularly glamorous. She supposed that was why she hadn't that many volunteers, though UNIT, who were oh-so-kindly funding this whole operation, had mentioned that someone had shown interest. Truth be told, she hadn't expected anyone particularly special. Certainly not someone she had heard so much about.

Nonetheless a smile crept onto her features, extending a hand to the other woman. ❝ Professor Melodie Williams, it's a pleasure to finally meet. ❞

"Josephine Grant!" Missy exclaimed, grinning broadly. "It is an honor. I mean, well and truly, an honor."

She would never admit it, but Jo was one of her favorites of the Doctor's humans.

"I'm Missy," she explained. She extended a well-manicured hand. "Just popping in to see how things are going around here--and perhaps pay that wonderful Doctor a visit!"

She can't help but smile at spotting the familiar face of the woman. It's like seeing an old friend after a while, except without all the things that usually accompanied with seeing the Doctor. Jo has always been an exception among humans when it came to the Master. "Ah, Miss Josephine Grant! You always were my favorite, don't tell the others!"

2. (for  a  melancholy  starter.) 

Zari felt so numb now as he sat in the grass. His eyes stared forward a little unseeing, his mind clearly off somewhere far away. This was it. He was stuck here in Earth. The TARDIS he crashed into the planet with was beyond saving. He was essentially marooned on this little planet in the little corner of the universe. Damn.

At least he was lucky. Maybe too lucky. He ended up within reach of a former friend of his father’s. Now he just had to process everything that’s happened. He didn’t really notice when Jo came out to join him, not until she was already practically next to him.

“Uh, hi.” He says quietly, glancing up to Jo for just a second before staring up to the sky instead. “The sky is so different out here.”
