Northeast Comic Con Coverage part 3

In my continuing coverage of last weekend’s Northeast Comic Con (http://www.necomiccon.net/), here is the next installment of what Green’s Party got to see.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Jaws (which I recently wrote about: http://greensparty.tumblr.com/post/121856969028/june-iversaries). The day I was at Northeast Comic Con was 40 years to the day of the original Jaws release! There were a ton of props laid out, a fake shark fans could pose with and celebs signing.

First, I spoke to actor John Dukakis (son of Kitty Dukakis, the former First Lady of MA). John appears in 1978′s lesser Jaws 2. He says he still gets asked about the movie and his appearance in it to this day. Since his acting days, he has been focused on politics and entertainment.

I also got the chance to speak with actress Susan Backlinie, who will forever be known as Chrissie, the first victim in Jaws. Who can forget the opening scene, where Chrissie goes in the water and doesn't come back. What’s it been like for her to see all of the 40th anniversary celebrations? “Unbelievable! All the kids want to see it again and again.” Director Steven Spielberg was 27 and very ambitious. I asked what it was like working with Spielberg so early in his career? She said “Steven wanted the entire audience hiding under their chairs with their popcorn watching in between the seats.” BTW - Spielberg cast Backlinie again in 1941.
