A Communicative Artefact, REMIXED!

I decided to remix a communicative artifact, which is from one of our assignments in class, and I chose a song for my artefact. The song is called; “Nothing To Lose” by Billy Talent. This song comes from Billy Talents first album, which was a self-titled album, “Billy Talent” and came out on September 16th, 2003. The song “Nothing To Lose” was written about a suicidal teen, who is suffering from rejection from their peers in school and is going through a state of depression.

The way that I would remix this song would be flipping main context the song of those who are dealing with their problems of being bullied or rejected. Instead, have the song target the people who are bullying and reject others, and talk about how these people are dealing with their own insecurities and fears. All the remix would entitle is switching around the bullied with the bullies.

When you change the angle of the protagonist of song around, it remixes quite well. The people who bully others or put people down are the ones dealing with their own issues. For these people, the only way they can feel good about themselves is when they bring others down to the level that they are at. In life, everyone has insecurities and struggles, especially throughout high school/teen years. Bullying and putting others down is just a way some people do because they feel they are deflecting their own flaws and turn the spotlight away from themselves. When in reality, it is doing the complete opposite.

Billy Talents song “Nothing To Lose”, is about a teenager contemplating suicide because they can’t stand the stress and feeling of nobody wanting them. But, in this same song you can turn the tables and around and take a look at those people who are bullying and putting down the teenager. These people have their own problems, whether it is school, family issues, or whatever else is in their life. One thing is for certain, everyone has their problems, but it is just a matter of how you solve them in a proper way. The best thing anyone can do is ask for help, and always be respectful of those around you because you do not know their where they have come from and what they have gone through.
