Just thinking about how connected Sage Prince and John Hobb are throughout the podcast

John stole his powers while Sage was given hers, both were cursed by them

John is a Doomed with Nova spells and Sage is a Nova with a doomtrack

Sage admonishes John for recklessly using the powers that bring him closer to oblivion, John doesn’t understand how he could be a hero if he didn’t

Sage’s powers give her the biggest family, John’s isolates him from his own

Both lose their powers which forces them to reckon with their own heroism, and they compensate with wicked technology

Both have the power to bend reality but have solved multiple problems with their fists

Sage shrunk a god so John could then kill it

Both are gay for their besties. John is gay for Sage’s brother, Sage is gay for John’s teen crush

The whole “I try to knock him unconscious on the ceiling with a shit ton of air” “oh no he’s looking at me in a sad/trusting manner” scene really gave Ekko seeing Powder when he's about to wallop Jinx on the bridge vibes.

good thing John didn't blow anything up! Ha ha ha… I have so many things to say about the interpersonal relationships of our heroes, but right now!!! Ramón and John are infesting my brain with their bromance.

Another difficult question, because a ship can be underrated in a popular show, or they can be underrated as a result of the show being underrated (e.g. BenJohn from Protean City Comics)

I think my answer overall is Timbern (Tim Drake and Bernard Dowd), just because they are INCREDIBLY overhated (t*mk*n stans earned an enemy that day /j

My favourite thing about relistening to Protean City is how effortlessly couple-y Ben and John, and Sage and Alina are, and then John and Alina kiss and i realise I'm focusing on the wrong ships

Like, love the cast, i really do, but y'all gave Ben and John ice cream dates where they playfully argue the best way to eat ice cream (it's cones) while Sage and Alina have physically intimate study dates while they also investigate supernatural cults

At first, it’s just a cough. John doesn’t think much of it. He’s been sick before, he’ll get over it. But it doesn’t go away, it gets worse, and worse, and worse.

Nobody notices. His dad still spends more time at work than home, his mom’s in jail, Ramon doesn’t pay attention to much besides his vendetta, Sage is practically running PCOY, Kalino’s got his own baggage to worry about, Ben hasn’t really talked to him in a while, and Alina… He doesn’t want to think much about Alina. People aren’t constantly forgetting him anymore, but that doesn’t mean that he’s any less alone.
