A book I edited is now available, John LeMay's Terror of the Lost Tokusatsu Films, covering all manner of lost, unmade, and just plain obscure Japanese science fiction and horror films. It's filled with wonderful tidbits of information about these films. Check it out.
So, it turns out I edited a book and kinda forgot about it. And now it's available. Lots of snifty things to learn about that never got made, some of which you may never even have heard of. Contains the most detailed plot synopsis for Mothra vs. Bagan and Batman vs. Godzilla I've ever encountered. Even if I hadn't been involved, I'd highly recommend this.

A book I just finished editing called Writing Japanese Monsters by John LeMay is now available. It’s a very good tome of interesting factoids of Japanese monster movies that didn’t get made or the evolution of some of your favorites (you will not believe how buck-wild Godzilla vs. Biollante could’ve been). I worked very hard on this to make sure it was as grammatically and factually correct as possible (though I have not seen the final book yet, so I don’t know if all my edits made it into the final print). The author and I finally got to the bottom of if Godzilla flying was actually scripted in Godzilla vs. Hedorah or not (it wasn’t, but a new unused ability for G was scripted). It was a fun read editing, so I can only imagine how it must be as a finalized book. Check it out.
Barugon lurking at G-Fest 24. Luckily, the Crown Plaza Hotel was air conditioned, so we didn't’t need Barugon’s freeze ray to cool us down.
Learned an interesting tidbit about Barugon at the “Lost Godzilla Films” panel by John LeMay. Originally, Barugon was not going to be Gamera’s foe in the second Showa Gamera film. Instead, the atomic turtle was going to face off against an ice giant in “Giant Monster Camera vs. The Ice Men From Outer Space.” For various reasons this concept didn’t pan out, but the ice weapon of the Ice Men was turned into Barugon’s freeze ray, and the ice giant Camera would’ve fought became a stone giant and became Das Maijin.
