Hank Mobley: A Slice of the Top

Among the unissued Blue Note sessions that I brought to light over the past 45 years was Hank Mobley’s A Slice Of The Top, with remarkable original music arranged for nonet. I knew from John Litweiler’s 1972 interview with Hank that it was one of sessions that he was most frustrated with not being issued. Steve Cerra has reprinted John’s original liner notes from the 1979 first release of this extraordinary record date.
