Things I didn't notice in Still Wakes the Deep
O'Connor's whole spine has been ripped out of his body. He's not just stuck in the entity spreading on the wall in the pontoon.
Trots was in the bathroom when he was attacked by the entity. Genuinely wondering if the pair of legs Caz runs into near the end of the game stuck in that biomass were his.
Finally, I'm reading the artbook. Not crazy about the print size, but it's been fairly interesting so far as a read.
I like the idea that the entity simply amplifies or hones in on certain characteristics of rig worker's personalities. Rennick and Addair are hostile because they were like that when they still had complete autonomy. Muir feels scared and alone because he doesn't understand what happened to him. Roper is still stressed about Rennick, not necessarily that a monsterfied Rennick is coming after him.
The entity is taking the crew members and the rig apart, trying to figure out what they are, twisting them both into a shape that works for it. That's how I understood the description.
Apparently Muir was (meant to be) killed by Rennick at some point. That strikes me as extremely funny in light of Innes's, "Rennick's itching to give someone a kicking!" comment early in the game.
I think I would've liked to see Caz trying to have a smoke with Roper in marine control as a sort've understanding between him and the entity, or what his co-workers have become. I understand that probably would've minimized how threatened the players might've felt toward the entity.
They originally wanted players to try to rescue Brodie from the pontoon. We would've seen his body in the oil as he was intended to die either way. I figured someone probably thought that was one backtrack too many, esp so late in the game.
They actually modeled a face for Caz; they just never put the head on the body.
I listened to the cut dialog ages ago, but I still think it's funny that, on top of marrying his would-be squeeze, Caz also worked for Billy Chamberlain. He def was going to jail if he ever went back to the mainland.
