Throwback Thursday: Alfred “Buck” Scudder, pictured above ca. 1859, assisted College of New Jersey (Princeton) professors Stephen Alexander and John Schank and worked as a janitor in Clio Hall. He probably participated in classroom instruction and assisted with experiments. He is one of several African Americans whose stories are being brought to light through the Princeton & Slavery Project.
