One of the funniest things in this series is how Michael’s dignity is repeatedly stolen by random animals. He gets hit by a giant flying beetle in Antarctica, completely humiliated by yaks outside the Dire Magnus’s fortress, and then he gets bitten by a goddamn sheep. He never knows peace and I love that for him.
Only Emma could be in such horrible circumstances and still find a way to insult her brother. She’s a master of her craft.
2026 has been a nightmare in many ways, but John Stephens is releasing The Age of Fury in October and that’s basically a shining beacon for my books of beginning obsessed ass
