Hey, and welcome to my blog!

I'm John Walker, former Captain America and current U.S. Agent, working with the Thunderbolts*.

Decorated veteran, high school football star... divorced dad. You get it.

I've made plenty of mistakes. But I plan on doing everything I can to make up for them. Maybe this Thunderbolts* thing is a new start.

Plus, this team definitely needs me on it.

((The following deviates from the canon. Reminder, if you don't like my version of John, you don't have to interact!))

I was in the closet a long time. I was in the military during "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", and at the time, I thought that keeping everything to myself was the best thing to do. I never planned on coming out.

Lately, @official-redguardian has been convincing me to be more open about who I am. And I'm trying. So, yeah, I'm a transgender man. I started my transition when I was really young, so I've been lucky enough to be stealth for most of my life.

Lemar was the only one who knew, and he was a great friend and kept my secret. Now that I'm definitely no longer in the running to be Cap... might as well tell people, I guess. Alexei said it matters for there to be "representation".

Its 3:00am when the phone rings. The caller ID shows a number from New York, so it's local, but not in (your character's) contacts.

"Hello? This is the manager of Fesco's, a bar on 48th. I have John Walker here, and... he definitely can't make it home on his own. You were the first in his phone, can you come pick him up? We're closed, and I'm trying to send my staff home."

Upon arrival, the bar is empty save for a couple of servers and the manager. And of course, John, who is bent over with his cheek against the counter.

"I told them not to call you." He mumbles, then hiccups. There's no telling how many drinks he had to have in order to combat the serum's tendency to keep him sober. His hair is a mess, he smells like beer, and his eyes are red and glassy. The manager was right, he definitely needs someone to take him home.

Dallas is raiding the communal fridge at the tower, looking for something to eat, pulling out things to make himself a sandwich.

He hadn’t told John that he’s staying at the tower, and he’s hoping to never have to.

He looks more tired than usual, rubbing his eyes, a slightly blank expression on his face, his eyes kinda staring beyond anything he looks at.

John has just come back from dropping Caleb back at Olivia's place. He hates saying goodbye to the little guy, so he's already feeling a little low. He needs a drink.

He steps out of the elevator, not seeing Dallas until he turns a corner into the kitchen. He freezes, staring.

"Dallas?"

Reminder that the U.S. military has always had queer servicemembers. The U.S. military continues to be hostile to LGBTQ+ members as over 15k soldiers are being removed from the service due to their gender identity RIGHT NOW.

Everyone should have the right to serve. Being trans does not impact ability to perform.

A trans man fought with the Union Army in the Civil War, and people kept his birth sex a secret for years. When he was outed to the media, his comrades testified that he was Albert, a man, and not a woman.

He unfortunately was forced to live as a woman for the last part of his life. But he is an example of trans people existing and being capable of serving their country, and the willingness of other soldiers to support their trans comrades.

Closed RP - His Choice, My Responsibility

He has a son.

A son he never knew about.

And his son is homeless, just got shot by a drug dealer, and wants nothing to do with him.

John knocks on Alexei's door, his hands shaking. He feels like he can hardly breathe, feeling more overwhelmed the longer things sink in. Jules is dead, shot. He wasn't there to protect her. He failed.

Again.

He pulls at his shirt, trying to get more air. He feels hot, his face flushed and shining with sweat. He still has blood on his shirt and under his fingernails.

"Alexei?" He calls through the door, his voice trembling.

He needs Alexei now more than ever.
