Author: A Christmas Miracle - I’m back to writing! School has taken up most of my time these past few months, so I’m sorry! This might turn into a collection type thing!
Summary: You buy the Pogues their first ever advent calendars!
There should be nothing that needs a trigger warning, the most there is is that they mention money being tight!
As it was my first year with the Pogues, I didn’t know whether they celebrated Christmas or not. Not that that bothered me, of course, because I knew none of them were religious, so what harm can a tree and a few presents on the 25th do? I decided to leave thanksgiving, knowing I couldn’t get a large amount of food on short notice, but saved up my money to at least have a turkey on Christmas Day.
To start the celebrations, I bought each one of them an advent: white Chocolate for John B and Kiara, milk chocolate for Pope and I, and dark chocolate for JJ. On the 1st of December, I walk into the Chateau with a bag in hand, causing all four of them to give me a weird look.
“E, what’d you buy? We went shopping for food last week!” JJ asks you before taking a swig of his beer. I laugh a little to myself, then lift out his advent. He takes it, still looking confused.
“Open Door 1!” I exclaim as I give the others their own advents, and take mine out before leaving the empty bag on the floor. I sit next to JJ as his eyes light up at the sight of a dark chocolate truffle which he devours in seconds, followed by mumbled thank yous.
“So, I open one each day?” JJ asks after he finishes his joy-filled treat. I nod.
“Elodie, none of us have had one of these before.” Pope looks at you with admiration and thankfulness as he opens his to find a mini milk chocolate brownie.
“Really? None of you have had an advent calendar?” I ask in shock. Kiara is a kook, I assumed she had.
“Nope. Money is always tight around this time. Even Kie never got one, her parent’s believed they were stupid money-wasters.” Kiara nods at John B’s statement in agreement.
“So did you celebrate much back home?” JJ asks in awe.
“We did loads, and I plan on giving you guys the best Christmas you’ll ever have!”
“Ellie, we don’t have enough money for presents.” John B asks in concern.
“It’s okay! For one, I can get you guys stuff, but I’m not expecting anything back! And another thing, Christmas isn’t just about presents!”
I abruptly stop talking as my head turns to JJ, who has opened (and eaten) all 24 days of his advent. We all erupt into laughter at his burst out cheeks being full of chocolate. I give him mine, reassuring him he deserves it more than me, and I’ll go get another one for myself later.
It breaks me that this is the first time they have never experienced a proper Christmas. It only gives me more motivation to make this their best one. The smiles on their faces are more than worth it.
