Fairy God...something | AU; John and Malinda
She was not the strongest, the bravest, nor the most intelligent of her family—but the most gentle.
That is why she was sent.
A dark, winged creature she was. A fallen angel, perhaps, would be a better description. She had a deep curve in her pale waist, protruding bones all over her body (collar bones, pelvic bones, rib cage), a tall neck that blue veins trailed up and down like ivy, and frighteningly long, skeletal fingers. A deep thigh gap, tiny knee caps, rail-like calves, and long, narrow feet, were only partially concealed by a dress made of a brown silk base, inlaid with passionately bloomed wild flowers—which was a stark contrast against the delicateness of her frame. The only part of her that can really be considered supple was her naturally down-turned eyes that were a terrifying a shade of ice green.
At first glance, one might believe she was a demon. But the way her irises filled with emotion for the boy who was beside the gravestone, there was no question she was his guardian and not his tormentor. Her wings—dragon-like, and had pointed horns on either side stemming from the tips—beat to fan the boy from the Summer heat.
She heard his mother’s voice, quickly folded her wings, and hid.

Night fell, and though she was supposed to have returned home, she waited beside his window. When she was certain he was asleep, she crept silently in. To keep the nightmares away, of course. The only thing that could scare a nightmare away was something more frightening.
Just a child herself, she had not yet grown into her wings. She tripped over her wing, fell on her face, and cringed inwardly.
