You don't draw androids often. But when you do, they turn out really good.
Why is that? (Just out of curiosity, ofc. I like how you draw them, ofc)
First of all: rude!!! (idk I think it's my autism brain tagging the first line as being mad at me not your fault lol)
Mainly of all: So I was expecting this to be a shorter post but as I wanted to go more and more into my process, it ended up getting longer and longer.
I drew a couple robits to help illustrate my point and I'll put them here without context just in case people don't want to read the full long post (which will be under the cut below them)
1) Familiarity
The main reason why I don't draw much androids (or many different characters in general) is that I'm not a huge game player/show watcher/book reader/media consumer so I don't have a large catalogue of characters I'm familiar with, and much less of those are robots that fill the criteria below so I end up not drawing them much
2) Ideas
At this point, I've kinda gotten tired of doing solo pieces of just "hey look it's this character but standing :)
I wanna be able to draw them doing something (typically mundane Ordinary Life type stuff), preferably with others, but coming up with ideas is extremely difficult for me unfortunately. I used to be able to bounce off of friends to make up for my lack of creativity, but I've lost a lot of them at this point so that's not an option lol
There's also the fact that I've been trying to work on long-term projects more (extremely slowly because my brain is shit) so I don't really have time set aside for drawing one-off things as much
3) Design Malleability
I don't know if this makes sense, but the biggest hurdle is how malleable a design is for me to add stuff onto.
First, I have to show off my general design process for robits (which I hope will improve over time so I can be more recognizable over other artists)
But specifically talking about the character designs, they strike the perfect balance of complexity for me. They're simple enough where I can add my own bits without taking away the recognizability of the character whilst allowing me to add my own twist (?) to it.
The art styles of the original are close enough to my own as well where I don't feel weird drawing them in my own. Or in the case of the voca/utau/fanloids, they're not tied to a specific art style which is even better.
The first problem though comes with designs that extremely simple. At that point, I feel like if I Delatoid Robotify them, I end up taking away from the appeal of the original design.
In the case of more Western properties like MLATR or with Futurama robots (not androids but sshhh), the original art styles are way too different from mine and I struggle to find a good middle ground
On the other end are designs that are too complex. Just like Spore, if the complexity meter is maxed out, I'm not able to add more to it. If I do, it ends up making the design extremely busy and there's be no place for the eyes to rest, so it ends up being a mess.
I have Cell there for the complexity part, ofc (fuck those spots), but as I say in the image, he's part of a smaller group of "robots that don't look like robots" where Delatoid Robotifying them just ends up making it look like "hey look at this character but a Robot :)" fanart and I can't really draw them in other situations without the fact that they're suddenly super robotic being a focal point (which I don't want).
Anyway long-winded ramble just to say my brain poopy :L
Wait I almost forgot
4) My ADHD makes it hard as hell to draw and I hate that!!!!
Do you want revenge on Valentino? I might’ve known that you were refusing to cope, and you were lashing out at the staff and new residents, wrecking the bar, and clawing the walls, desperately screaming out to Angel.
mm obviously I want revenge on that fucking aswhole. but idk know what your walking about about lashing out and shit I would never plus al would kill me if I tried..mm also I'm over angel he made his choice..
Rules: In a new post, show the last three lines you wrote or the last thing you drew, and tag as many people as you feel like!
