I’m sure everyone has childhood ships. John and Charlie was one of my biggest. I read the books when they first came out, so I was really young. I reread the first and second but I don’t think I ever did the third despite it being my favorite (notice my username). Every time they interacted I did the literal definition of “fan girl” as in get extremely excited and giggle and kick my feet. I freaked out if I ever found any fan content of them (maybe 2 pictures total). Doodled them a lot. I was also obsessed with Charlie on her own (she is still my favorite character) and I was so upset and on edge about the ending of The Twisted Ones that I preordered The Fourth Closet and read the whole thing the day it came out. And in my mind I was like “can they please kiss please kiss please kiss…” I’m still mad about that actually because why did Elizabeth kiss John… Anyways when I think back on that it reminds me of how much fun shipping was as a kid because it was a lot more exciting and more innocent. I miss that.
